Galerunner -- WarriorIt wasn't the first time. It wouldn't be the last. Galerunner sat a distance from the nursery in an awkward state, deflating in disappointment as he watched the kitten run away from him while sobbing. His ears, his strong features, they scared the little furball off, even though he tried to so kindly say hello with the warmest of grins. Were it his strangely sized canines? Was his smile ugly? Dropping his head in dismay, the chocolate smoke stiffly turned away and walked off with his tail drooping. He tried his best to fit in, to be welcoming and act as comfortably around his clanmates as possible. Maybe Ebonystream was right: their differences would always set them apart and always leave them feeling...alien. Stop it! Don't let her get to you...she's just being pessimistic. Just keep smiling, just...just try to be normal. He told himself that all the time, day and night, moon after moon. With enough persistence, you could accomplish anything, right? ...maybe even the impossible.

Crowpelt noticed that Galerunner was walking, his tail drooping, and looked towards the nursery where the kit had run off. She frowned in discomfort, as she didn’t like to see anyone sad for any reason. Making up her mind,Crowpelt sprinted after the taller tom, trying to give him a comforting smile, and a swish of her tail. "I wouldn't worry about the little one too much" She mewed, her whiskers twitching. Kits were scared of the littlest things, and she knew that Galerunner was trying his best to be gentle. "They'll grow up soon enough.” She always appreciated Galerunner, and knew the tom was nice and friendly.

The tom's mocha-colored ears perked in surprise when he heard the rapid beat of approaching paw steps, almost curious to see what was rushing at him so eagerly. He almost it might be the kitten's mother, trying to give him a chewing-out just for attempting to say hello to the poor little scrap. Galerunner was surprised to see that it was another warrior, Crowpelt specifically, a cat he hadn't quite talked to much. "Mh, yeah..." After glancing up to see who it was, the smoke warrior awkwardly returned his gaze to the ground, shuffling the dirt around with a forepaw.
"I think I'd rather they not grow up. Their world's as perfect as it is: innocent." He regretted growing up, after all. He was so naive then, oblivious to the viciousness behind the torment he and Ebonystream received from Scorchtail as kittens, although he still seemed a little...naive now. Situations seemed much too grim as an adult, and life felt overwhelmingly stressful. If he could spend a day as a kitten again, life would certainly be worth living.

Crowpelt’s tail swished in the air as she thought about the tom’s words. She knew that she wasn’t all that familiar with every cat in the clan, but she would like to be known as everyone’s friends, rather than making any enemies. She didn’t really want trouble, and she was unsure if her ‘help’ was even wanted. “Well,I think when they learn a thing or two, they’ll probably be nicer”. She mused. “ Or at least more friendly.” Crowpelt knew that life could be hard, but had never experienced any perticualr hardships in her life, just cold hardships of leaf-bare, but that wasn’t as tragic as other hardships she had heard about. She supposed she was privileged in this way, having lived a really simple life, just flying under the radar as she preferred.

"I don't think they meant to be mean," the tom tried to explain, sending another glance back towards the nursery where the kitten was completely out of sight. No, the sobbing wasn't meant to be an offense, Galerunner was certain of that, but it still stung nonetheless. If he was to miraculously have kittens some day, would they do the same to him? If he got an apprentice, would they refuse to look at him whenever they trained? "...It just hurts, I guess, even though the poor kit doesn't know how I feel about it. Wasn't the first...and surely won't be the last."
