As much as she knew it was probably bad for her health, Mistlebrook was glad to have something to distract her from her father's death. And training another apprentice was just about the perfect distraction. Since Drizzlecloud was further away from her than ever and Coyotestorm seemed to have a lot on his mind without her bothering him, she'd just thrown herself into being a mentor again without giving much thought to anything else. The other thing that she could just about admit was that Rabbitpaw was nothing like either Acorndrop or Skywren, though she was yet to put a claw on why. Perhaps it was his attitude to learning. Perhaps it was his attitude to her. But it wasn't like she gave it much consideration beyond the occasional passing thought.
The first patrol had recently returned when Mistlebrook approached the apprentice's den, figuring it was late enough that she wouldn't be dragging Rabbitpaw out of his nest. Of course the occasional sunrise start was unavoidable but he hadn't been very impressed with her the few times she'd tried so she tended to wake him a little later than she might have done with her other apprentices. Again, not as though she put much thought into it. "Rabbitpaw?" she spoke softly into the mouth of the den, noting the few empty nests and presuming that his wouldn't be one of them.

Rabbitpaw didn't truly understand why he had to learn how to be a 'warrior', he understood the basics, fight and hunt, so why did he need a mentor to do that! He did admit that he wasn't that impressed with the mentor he was assigned, Mistlebrook was nice enough he guessed but he just found her to be something of a push over at times. Though he figured that even if he had gotten someone who was more stern or meaner he would have relatively the same feelings about training.
He had actually gotten up surprisingly early that morning and decided to go on a small walk, not like he was overly concerned if his mentor came looking for him. Who cared about whether he had a sense of duty to complete his training. The only thing he could admit that he looked forward to was learning how to fight but that had been sorely lacking since he first became an apprentice, seemed like all they did was hunt and patrol, and hunt some more.
Huffing, Rabbitpaw turned back towards camp, his steps more slow and casual as he had a brief thought back to a conversation with his mother regarding his apprenticeship. Rabbitpaw could admit that he loved his mother and that she was probably one of the few beings he would actually protect but couldn't find it in himself to really care what she wanted from him in regards to his training. Who cares how hard he worked, he'd just end up in the same place as everyone else eventually. Tilting his head as he entered camp, Rabbitpaw noted Mistlebrook's presence at the entrance of the apprentices den and heaved a sigh before making his way over.
"Looking for me" he drawled in a bored tone, unimpressed with the start of the day so far.

The loud voice behind her made Mistlebrook jump, almost stumbling forwards in how startled she was. "Oh, hello Rabbitpaw. Yes I was," she said after a moment, trying desperately to keep her lingering shock show in her expression. He didn't need to know that her heart was still hammering in her chest faster than a hummingbird's wings. "I thought that we should start training for today. Would you like to start battle practise?" she asked. It had been about a moon since he'd been apprenticed to her and they'd focused mostly on learning the RavenClan hunting techniques so far so it was about time they moved onto that, But more than anything she wanted to give him something to take his mind away from the prospect of sneaking up on her again. It had unsettled her more than she was willing to admit, though again for a greater reason that she couldn't quite fathom.

Noting how Mistlebrook had reacted, Rabbitpaw wondered if he could get a similar reaction at a different time. He didn't bother hiding the amusement he felt at the reaction until he heard what she had said regarding training. "Okay, sounds interesting" he mewed with a shrug, not showing the anticipation he felt in his belly at the prospect of learning how to fight.
