I could hear the whole world calling me o u t s i d e . (this is a training session that will descend into chaos/mild hazing. all rc apprentices are encouraged to attend!)
Being deputy was strange. Cats looked at him with respect and admiration. But he wasn't sure he liked all of it. Apprentices avoided him as he walked through camp, other warriors spoke about him behind his back, and it made him uncomfortable. Things needed to change. He decided to take out some apprentices for group training. It would bring them all together, and hopefully it could help him bond with the Clan's younger generation. And a night lesson would be perfect! Cool enough to keep their attention, and useful too, as they needed to be prepared to navigate the territory night or day. After he'd gotten the okay from their mentors and Ashenstar, and found a chaperone in Coyotestorm, he'd presented the opportunity to the apprentices. Most had agreed to come, and he was ecstatic. With a bit of luck and work, this would be a perfect night for everyone. "Okay." They'd just stepped out of camp, into a small clearing where they could speak without waking everyone up. "I'll be at the front. Coyotestorm will be at the back. We're going over to the rabbit warrens to show you how to hunt at night, and if we have time, we'll show you some battle moves that you can use in the dark. Keep an eye on your denmates, and use your noses. If you stop smelling someone, call out their name, and we'll all stop to make sure they're okay. This is going to be fun! Are you all ready?"

Coyotestorm was definitely surprised to be asked to help with a group training session. Was he trustworthy enough for that? He didn’t think so, but he wasn’t about to voice that. It worked to his advantage, because he absolutely knew he wasn’t trustworthy. He stood behind the row of apprentices, watching them in the low light. They were illuminated by the moon above, and he tried to remember the name of each one from the back of their heads. It was hard, and eventually he gave up and shifted his gaze to Acorndrop, smiling perhaps a little too widely. It was easy to over-exaggerate, and it was more than helpful when he wanted to hide how he was really feeling. He was far from happy, given what happened to him in the last moon, and being surrounded by apprentices was a hard reminder. But still, having an excuse to be awake at night and not sleep to the backdrop of nightmares was something he could appreciate.

Aurorapaw struggled to keep a yawn in check as she stood with the other apprentices. A group training session was unusual, especially one at night, but she could definitely admit that she was curious. She was mostly comfortable with her denmates by now, especially considering they were all she had. Her brother and father were gone for moons, and she suspected they weren’t coming back. With only faint memories of her mother, she didn’t even know where to begin searching for her. In any case, she wanted to prove she was a loyal warrior since she didn’t start out like the other apprentices, and what better chance than to do well in a group training session? She shifted her weight, trying not to be cowed by the expectation she placed on her own shoulders.

Cougarpaw nearly wanted to grumble at the fact that they were up at night, he had spent the day with his mentor doing patrols and hunting. He was regretting agreeing to the adventure but had jumped at the opportunity the moment he heard Aurorapaw was also going. He stood next to the she-cat, offering her silent support as he knew she was going through a tough time. He had meant to speak to her but had been so busy with training that he hadn't found a time to do so.
