Twigpaw -- ApprenticeTwigpaw sat away from the usual apprentice hang-out, avoiding the mischievous bunch with their excited chatter and instead rolling a pebble with a little white paw. With how silent he was, most might think he was dead in the brain- but oh StarClan, was his mind always active. Thinking, observing, calculating, predicting...He actually knew his clanmates relatively well, more than they might expect. So naturally, some of them frightened the young tom with their bold nature and potential secrets. Twigpaw was very suspicious of some of them, and therefore made it a priority to avoid them as much as possible. Then again, he seemed to avoid most cats in general- or was it the other way around? He was no spectacular conversationalist, no thanks to his lack of hearing and general muteness. Frowning, the chocolate apprentice watched with significant disappointment as he planted too much pressure on the pebble with his paw and caused it to go bouncing away. Now what?

Lizardstone was laying in a patch of sunlight, taking a rare moment to relax. He still couldn’t believe, even after a moon, that he made it to being a warrior. He could join Adderdash in the same den now and all of his other denmates who became warriors before him. He felt bad that Barkpaw got left behind, but he was confident that his brother would join him soon. At least he still had Fenpaw to keep him company.
His eyes started to close until he felt something hit his fur. He opened his eyes in confusion and sat up, then looked around. The only thing near him was a pebble, and the only cat close enough to launch a pebble was... Twigpaw. He watched the younger tom curiously for a moment, then picked up the pebble and headed over. “Is this yours?” he asked, before being interrupted by a yawn. He didn’t suspect anything from Twigpaw flinging pebbles, going off the assumption that it was an accident.

If he stretched enough, maaaayyybee he could reach something else to distract himself, like a piece of moss, or even a feather (if he was lucky). Awkwardly and almost frantically looking for a new object, his blue eyes darted back and forth before he struggled to reach out with his short legs, only for his paws to bring back nothing but air. In the corner of his vision, he detected movement from where his pebble had been launched, and guilt immediately gnawed at the pit of his stomach. Oh no! He hit someone! It was an accident- he really hoped nobody scary would be mad at him and pummel him into the earth like Pepperfang would...
Twigpaw nervously peered up at the approaching form with round eyes that begged for forgiveness. He leaned on his side a little, as if preparing himself to roll onto his back to submissively expose his belly. As the cat began to spoke, the apprentice tensed, awaiting some bitter comment, but the words that lightly hit his ears seemed to be...kind.
Wincing, he glanced upwards with a look of relief, the smallest of sighs escaping his lips. He heard what the warrior had to say- at least some of it. His ears often failed him, it really sucked. Twigpaw had observed Lizardstone before, and he seemed pretty nice. Too shy to speak with the warrior just yet, Twigpaw gave a feeble nod as a response to his question.

The nod was quick and withdrawn, and Lizardstone was reminded utterly of Adderdash. It caused him to smile. He didn’t know why the tom looked afraid, but he made no comment on it. Instead of pushing the rock forward to give it to Twigpaw, he kept it by his own paws. “Instead of flying rocks, I can show you something better, if you wanted to see.” He kept his offer light, amused, hoping that he didn’t make Twigpaw withdraw further. He got the sense the younger tom wanted to talk to cats but didn’t know how. Lizardstone had an uncanny way of knowing, or so he liked to think of it as. Really, he knew the feeling in several different ways, and he could recognize the tenseness in someone else easily. Maybe the issues weren’t exactly the same, but he could confidently say he knew enough when it looked like someone wanted company or something to do.

For several moments, Twigpaw's eyes remained glued to the tiny pebble that rested by Lizardstone's paws, wondering if the warrior would return it. He didn't seem particularly vexed by the accident, but the apprentice was almost reminded of the whole scenario of a kitten being punished by his mother, as the warrior was yet to return his toy. However, his offer caused Twigpaw to immediately raise his head from the pebble, blinking his blue orbs at Lizardstone with keen interest.
Something better? What could it be?
A sudden excitement washed over the chocolate tom, causing him to rise to his paws as he eagerly awaited to see what the warrior had to show him.

Seeing he had the younger tom’s attention, Lizardstone brandished the rock with an exaggerated flourish as he scooped it up. He then tossed it up into the air, and his eyes fixated on it. As it started to fall, he lined up with it and tilted his head down. It landed between his ears, and he sunk down slightly so it didn’t fall off. What he did had absolutely no value, but it was something he did in his spare time that could impress someone—or so he hoped. He spent enough time on it that he learned how to make sure the rock didn’t fall, so it was worth something to him, at least. He looked towards Twigpaw with a smile as he pushed the stone back. “I practiced that too much not to show it off.”

The reactive chocolate apprentice, while keenly interested, was still as flighty as ever. At the sudden motion of the warrior's paws, his entire frame flinched, like he was expecting a smack on the nose. However, he didn't flee from his position, and instead trained curious blue eyes on Lizardstone's little trick. When he managed to balance the stone on his head, Twigpaw's lower jaw dropped, leaving his mouth agape in awe.
Wow!
He sure wished he could be that coordinated! Even if it was a silly move to possibly impress kits, the apprentice couldn't help but to feel amazed by what he had witnessed. Sure- it wouldn't help them in combat or when the clan was starving, but it proved exceptional agility. If it was Twigpaw trying to balance the pebble, it would probably end up in someone's eye.

Lizardstone could see the excited gleam in Twigpaw’s eyes, and while he seemed almost enamored, there was still distance. Lizardstone could accept that, though. He nodded towards the younger tom, smile ever-present. “I’m going to head out of camp. Make sure to be careful with that rock, yeah? The cat you hit next time might not be as coordinated as me.” He winked before he turned away and towards the camp entrance.
