Adderdash always got nervous about patrols. He wasn't exactly the fastest cat, and he knew that other cats would get annoyed when he couldn't keep up. Usually he'd volunteer for patrols with Rumblecloud and Lizardstone, or with his parents, or other friends who didn't mind. But today, he was on patrol with Firefeather, and he had no idea how the tom would react to Adderdash's slow pace.
He approached his clanmate as steadily as he could, even if he bounced and shook a bit. "R-ready to go?" he asked, wondering if he ought to apologize first.

Firefeather glanced at the younger tom, and stood up, shaking his fur out. He had noticed the younger warrior's wobble, but he had known that the young cat probably couldn't help it, thus he decided to not bring it up, at least just yet. He was at least trying, which was more than other cats could say. "Yeah." He said, keeping his tone even, not protraying much emotion. He looked around for some other cats who were going to approach, but it seemed it would just be him and Adderdash. He hadn't really talked to young warrior much, after all, he didn't have a reason too, given the quite signifigant age gap between the two.
He started to head towards the exit of the camp, turning to talk to Adderdash. "Which border would you like to patrol first?" He figured giving the tom some sort of control would probably help him with his problem, that way , he could set his own pace. Firefeather really never had a problem with other cats, and although he was prickly, Adderdash had done nothing to him for Firefeather to dislike him. It wasn't his fault he had trouble, and Firefeather knew how being lonely felt.

"WillowClan," Adderdash answered instantly. It was the closest, and even though he'd had a bad experience there recently, he still preferred it than walking all the way out to the RavenClan border. At least this way, he could ease into things. He focused on the ground beneath his feet, taking steps deliberately and carefully. Firefeather had to be so annoyed. Adderdash wanted to climb a tree and never come down. "I can go faster," he lied, hoping the warrior wouldn't be too angry with him.

Firefeather's whiskers twitched. He probably should've seen that coming, in all honesty."If you want." He mewed, his eyes narrowing. He wasn't all sure how fast the tom could go, but Firefeather never saw the problem in wanting to improve. He wasn't much for small talking on patrols, and in all honesty, he didn't have much to say, as he didn't know the tom very well. He supposed that could change on this trip, but he wanted to younger tom to make that decision for himself.

Firefeather seemed to be relaxed, and that boosted Adderdash’s spirits. He continued through the forest, looking anxiously at the earth. The sinkhole he’d fallen into was still there, a gaping hole that sent a shiver down his spine. “Watch where you step,” he advised. “The ground’s soft here.”
