Echostar felt her nose twitch as she finished the mouse she had been eating, it was the first piece of prey she had eaten in a couple of days, with the weather worsening she had taken to leaving the prey for the rest of the clan, taking only when she needed to. Her ears perked as she heard movement outside her den, wondering who had come talk. "Come in" she called, pushing herself into a sitting position, her tail curling automatically around her paws.

Twilightstorm paused for a moment at the threshold of Echostar's den to take a breath. Part of him wanted to back out of his plan and die in the glory of battle instead. That was what he always imagined. Of course, this was before his kits and before Fennelbrook taught him the value of family. Now he couldn't imagine leaving Fenflower in such a sudden and violent manner, even if his daughter was already a warrior and thus, a grown she-cat. No, he couldn't back out. Breathing deeply, he finally stepped into the den. Due to his size, it felt a little more cramped, but he could see how it would be comfortable as a personal space. "Echostar," he greeted formally, dipping his head respectfully. "Do you have a moment? I apologize if I'm interrupting."

A bit surprised to see Twilightstorm, she wondered briefly what this could be about before focusing on the tom, figuring she would find out in a few moments "You're not interrupting at all, what can I do for you?" she mewed, indicating with her tail for the senior warrior to sit.

"Well...I wanted to speak with you," Twilightstorm started, the anxiety rising again. He hadn't considered it before, but would Echostar think he was weak? Would the Clan deem him a coward? "I have been thinking about this for a while now and my age has long been catching up to me, so I think my time has come to retire."

Listening to the words, Echostar was both surprised but also not, she knew that Twilightstorm was one of the older cats in the clan so it didn't surprise her at that mark but it surprised her that he was wanting to retire to the elders den rather than die as a warrior, something she had believed he wanted. She gave a small smile after a moment "I believe that is a wise decision, I'm sure both Tinybreath and Raggedtooth will enjoy having another denmate" she mewed sincerely.

The large grey tom let go of his breath, only realizing that he had been holding it once it left his body. "Thank you," he replied. "It'll certainly take some...adjusting...but I think that maybe it's time I focus a little more on my family." With that, he didn't feel that anymore needed to be said and he dipped his head respectfully before turning to leave Echostar's den.

Echostar stood up and followed after Twilightstorm, she gave the tom a small smile before jumping up onto the speaking rock "All those old enough to hunt gather here for a clan meeting" she called out, keeping her shoulders straight as she waited for the clan to gather before she looked down. "Twilightstorm, is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?" She remained steady as she heard some noise of surprise from the gathered cats.

Tinybreath pricked her ears as she heard Echostar's summons and heaved herself out of her nest and into the clearing, moving far enough forward to be included but not so close that she feared to step on someone's tail. Her ears perked up as she registered the words her leader asked Twilighstorm, slightly surprised but knowing that Twilightstorm was one of the older cats of the clan so it didn't really surprise her all that much.

It wasn't often that meetings were called, especially when none of the younger cats were scheduled to be promoted, so it was with great confusion that Smokefrost left the warriors' den. When he saw Twilightstorm sitting before Echostar, he almost stopped, even more confused than when he had first approached. Her next words caught him by surprise, but he held back from judgment until he heard any sort of response from the tom.

His heart began beating harder as she called the meeting and their clanmates began filing out of their dens to see what was going on. Twilightstorm almost doubted himself again, but took a deep breath and nodded his head. "It is," he spoke clearly, the strength of his tone surprising himself.

Echostar jumped down from her position and came to a rest beside Twilightstorm, "Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon StarClan to give you many moons of rest." she mewed softly, inclining her head softly in respect to the tom who had served his clan for many moons. She took a step back as the clan started to shout his name.

Twilightstorm nodded his head solemnly, before lifting it with mixed pride as the clan began chanting his name. He felt that he had served the clan well as a warrior, despite his flaws and mistakes, but he had to admit that giving it up to retire was bittersweet. The silver tabby tom knew in his heart that this was the best decision, so he could focus on the family that he had made, if they would have him

Tinybreath moved forward, making sure she was moving slow enough to avoid stepping on anyone's tails and so she didn't bump into anyone besides brushing against their fur briefly. "It'll be interesting to have one more denmate" she mewed once she figured she was within earshot of Twilightstorm, her nose twitching as she made a guess on where he was in relation to herself.

Twilightstorm turned his head to see Tinybreath approaching him. He wasn't sure if she realized it, but she almost seemed to move as if she still had her vision. "I hope you two are ready," he joked. "I might be retiring, but I'm still young at heart."
