Echostar huffed as she made her way thru the camp, having just finished talking with Smokefrost about what was going to happen when she had her kits. She knew that most of her responsibilities would fall on his shoulders until she recovered and wanted to give him a heads up about what it was that would be required.
She slipped into the nursery, studying her nest briefly before slipping back out and then out of camp, intending on getting some more moss, hoping to create a softer nest. Managing to gather some more moss and stumbling across a bounty of feathers, she made her way back to the nursery, dropping the moss in her nest and about half the feathers as well. She placed the remaining feathers near Driftfire's nest where the queen was sleeping before focusing back on her own, weaving the feathers in and out to her satisfaction.
She was just settling in for a nap, her eyes starting to droop when she felt a dull pain come from her belly, moments before a faster wave crashed thru her. Gritting her teeth, she hissed out a breath between teeth, her ears flicking as her gaze skittered around the nursery. She couldn't restrain the yelp of pain that came with the next wave, she knew she needed to get Whispermoon but was reluctant to get to her feet.

Whispermoon shifted in her nest, paws tucked neatly under her as she dozed lightly, having spent much of the morning checking in on Driftfire and her kits and taking care of a few thorn filled paws from rambunctious apprentices. It wasn't an overly busy day, something she was glad for, and with nothing much else to do she often would take short naps to relax before the stress of leaf-bare started soon. Twitching her ears, she eyed the entrance to her den, wondering if Echostar was back from her walk.
Getting to her paws she shook a few leaf bits from her pelt before she pushed her way out of her den, making her way towards the nursery with calm and even steps. She wasn't worried about the leader queen, she'd done well in her first kitting and would do well in her second one. What worried her the most was Jaggedpeak. Not that she expected him to hurt the kits or Echostar, but more likely she worried he would have a panic attack when the kits were born. "StarClan knows that tom thinks he's keeping it a good secret that he's terrified, but I see it in his eyes." She muttered before ducking into the dim nursery. "Ech--" She was cut off when she heard Echostar yelp in pain, and without waiting to finish her greeting or get a reply she spun back out of the den, racing to her own and snatching up the bundle of herbs she had prepared for this moment.
Returning to the nursery she dropped the bundle of herbs and the small stick that she had rolled in with the leaves by Echostar's head. "Raspberry leaves. You know the drill Echostar. You'll do great, I promise." The speckled she-cat said as she ran her paws over the queen's side, ears twitching as she counted the moments between waves. "You didn't come get me." Whispermoon narrowed her eyes at the orange and white she-cat.

Echostar was grateful when Whispermoon seemed to just appear beside her, herbs and a stick coming with her. Her ears flicked at the medicine cats words, knowing the drill all too well. She ate up the leaves inbetween the waves of pain, her tail tip flicking. It took her a moment to register the narrowed eyes of the medicine cat, feeling her own ears flick with slight nerves at the words spoken.
"I was about to" she grumbled "the pain just started when you appeared" she figured she would leave out that she had been reluctant to get up in fear of possibly falling on her kits, knowing that it was a stupid fear since they were only in the first stages of labor, the pain not yet debilitating enough to do that.

Whispermoon let out a puff of air, amusement dancing in her gaze briefly at the grumbled reply from the fiery leader. But before she could reply the entrance rustled, the familiar face of Jaggedpeak poking into the den, a mouse in his jaws. Instantly he seemed to gather what was going on, the mouse tumbling from his jaws and his pupils blowing wide as he stepped into the den further.
"Kits? They're coming?" He practically squeaked it out, looking terrified as he stared at first Echostar and then Whispermoon. This amused the medicine cat, seeing the usually angry tom look downright frightened at the idea that his first litter was about to enter the world.

Echostar blinked her eyes as Jaggedpeak appeared with a mouse before panic seemed to overtake the tom. "Jaggedpeak!" she snapped out, groaning afterwards at a wave of pain "calm down mouse-brain, not the end of the word" she growled out before snatching up the stick to bite down on it.
