Rowanmask found herself getting lost for a moment, her eyes narrowing as she struggled to concentrate on one thing at a time. It strained her, and it wasn't comfortable in the slightest, but the atmosphere in the area was enough to draw her into her thoughts. It was enough for her to almost miss what Aurorapaw said all together. "Hmm," she grunted, returning to the present. "StarClan knows. There's a reason why it's hidden." It was a surprisingly curt response, considering her tendency to go into great detail on things she knew about. But it was just that--she barely knew anything about this place.

Aurorapaw didn’t like the answer, but then again she wasn’t liking any answer today. She shrugged in response before she continued walking. The fog never eased, and neither did her nerves. She gave up on trying to find prey by scent, instead looking for visual cues. Through the low visibility she thought she saw jagged rocks in the distance. “Maybe something’s there.” She moved quickly towards them without looking back towards Rowanmask, disliking how the vapor seemed to curl around her, and she wasn’t sure if the wind or something else that sounded like whispers.

"What do you think it is?" Rowanmask moved closer, wanting to see what Aurorapaw did, but it was interesting to think she might also be drawing closer to her apprentice simply because it was more comforting to her. Squinting again, she couldn't see anything, but it was fully possible that the apprentice had smelled something instead. Trotting slower behind Aurorapaw, her ears flicked back and forth and almost seemed to vibrate with tension, but still she said little.

She drew closer, but the jagged rocks revealed nothing. She shook her head in frustration. “There’s still nothing,” she said with a sigh. Aurorapaw had to wonder if they scared everything off by now... if there even was anything to scare off. She was partially relieved that Rowanmask didn’t try to correct her this time. Was it because she proved herself competent or for some other reason? She didn’t know and wasn’t sure she wanted to. “Well, I suppose we can keep looking.” Her tone was doubtful, but maybe they would find something eventually.
