Smiling as Tanglewave stepped into the water, Dancingflame turned and slipped back into the calm waves. She kicked off the bank and ducked her head under for a brief moment. She flicked her ear as she heard his admittance. She couldn't help but agree, it had been moons since she had gone swimming and could imagine how some others felt. She came to a stop with her forpaws being able to touch the bottom, keeping herself stationary for the moment. "nothing else can compare to it" she agreed softly.

Finding some semblance of confidence in the water, he felt comfortable enough to actually attempt striking up a real conversation. While she held herself stationary, Tanglewave let himself continue floating, only kicking his feet occasionally to keep himself from drifting off. "Did you take to swimming easily when you were training?" he asked.

Dancingflame looked over at the tom, noting how more settled he seemed in the water before she thought back to her training days. "Mothdapple said like a fish to water" she mewed with a small grin, "of course I had to learn how to dive, that was the only struggle I had but otherwise it seemed so easy"

Tanglewave nodded his head in understanding. "Swimming for me felt more natural than walking. It certainly was the only thing I could do with any sense of grace," he chuckled. "Diving was trickier for me, too, but that's because I had to fight my land clumsiness."

Dancingflame smiled, amused at the words "guess everything will always have something you have to work at, otherwise it would just be too easy" she said. She felt a small bit of mischief creep up and used her tail to flick water at him, a smirk on her face as she waited for his reaction.

Tanglewave stared at Dancingflame, dumbfounded. She splashed water at him...playfully? In an almost out of body experience, he watched as his front paws pushed the water forward to splash her in return, acting while his brain was still frozen. Play wasn't totally foreign to him, not with his family at least. But there were not many cats outside of his family had actually tried to play with him. Did the same rules apply? His heart raced as he watched Dancingflame tentatively, trying to foresee any wrong moves.

Tanglewave's shock had Dancingflame a bit puzzled but she gave a playful purr as he splashed her back. She shook her muzzle to disperse the water and used her forepaws to created a small wave to run into him.

He actually laughed in response to her second splash, truly enjoying himself in the moment without overthinking it. Yet as much fun as he was having, their fish were still sitting on the bank, exposed. "I suppose we should get back to camp," he sighed as the water stilled, but then looked back up at Dancingflame, "but this was fun."

Dancingflame smiled at the laugh, letting out a small sigh of her own at his words, knowing that he was right. She grinned at his words "so did I, we'll have to do this again some time" she mewed as she climbed out of the water. She shook out the water and scooped up her fish, glad to have had some fun with a clanmate, she hoped that this friendship would continue.
