WILLOWCLAN:
Chirpsong finally came upon Haywhisker, brought to a stop when he held up his tail. She glanced around, wondering if he had seen something or if he was just beckoning them closer. "What's up?" she asked. It was both a casual greeting as well as a question as to what they were doing. Gatherings didn't bother her much; she had liked speaking to the other apprentices when she would attend, but it felt different this time. She wasn't sure if it was her new title, but she felt a lot more comfortable sticking with her own Clan.
RAVENCLAN:
Darkpaw's movements were erratic and unfocused, his nose taking in all of the new scents that, up until now, he hadn't gotten the chance to know. His knack for getting into "trouble"--their words, not his--had kept him from attending a gathering longer than some other apprentices. Really, he thought that his mother was just being particularly hard on him alongside his siblings, but he was here now, and he wasn't going to waste any time. With a skip in his step, he disappeared into the crowd, unconcerned with keeping close to his own Clan.
----
Ashenstar's eyes shifted when she noticed Darkpaw charging into the clearing, and swiftly met Raggedtooth's gaze. She nodded in acknowledgement, but gave no other sign that anything was amiss. She had other things to worry about, and should she get the chance, she would speak to him.
----
Rowanmask had walked alone most of the way, her paws dragging. It had been a long day. Gatherings were always a stressful time for her, as the excitement of the day made hunting and patrolling all the more difficult. She often took on the responsibility of doing more to make up for it, but that anxious excitement hit more than just her clanmates. She only wished that she could look forward to gatherings in the same way she had as an apprentice. There was always a chance she would speak to other cats, but for now, she made her way toward Coyotestorm, noticed his tense posture, and sat beside him. "You waiting for a fox to jump out and take you by surprise?" she asked quietly.

RC Acorndrop quickly dampened at Dancingflame's retort, not realizing how loud he'd been. "Okay, I'm sorry," he whispered, glancing around desperately at the WillowClan cats to see if he could spot her. "I heard about Mothkit, Dancingflame. I'm so sorry." He drooped at the words, looking away from her and struggling to figure out what to say. "I t-tried to help. I let the medicine cat apprentice in, Baypaw? But it's...I'm just so sorry." He fell silent, unsure what to say. "If Cherrypaw's upset, I don't need to speak with her. But please, could you just show her to me? I want to see her. How's she doing? Is she alright? Healthy? Are you okay?" WC
Dancingflame felt slightly bad about snapping but she had been worried, not wishing to cause Cherrypaw anymore upset than she already did. Her heart squeezed at Acorndrop's words regarding Mothkit "I'm sorry as well" she mewed softly, her ears flicking slightly as she listened to his words regarding Baypaw. She knew that it would always hurt but it was getting slightly easier as the moons passed. She turned her thoughts towards her other daughter at his questions, slightly relieved when he said he wouldn't approach her, knowing that at the moment Cherrypaw wouldn't appreciate it. She searched the crowd and spotted Cherrypaw standing next to Haywhisker. "She's to the left, standing next to the black tom, the red tortoiseshell" she mewed softly.

Acorndrop craned his neck to see her, his heart clicking into place when he spotted her. His paws burned with the urge to bound over to her, but he resisted. He felt like he could look at her forever, and that still wouldn't be enough. His flesh and blood. Right there, and he couldn't even talk to her. He let out a shaky gasp, struggling to calm himself. This wasn't about him. "Thank you so much," he murmured to Dancingflame, brushing his shoulder against hers as he stood up. "You seem well. I truly wish you the best. I...uh..." He glanced about anxiously. "I have a mate, in RavenClan. Her name's Dreamfeather." He hoped Dancingflame wouldn't be upset, but then again, she hadn't minded when he'd flirted around with Rubyspark. "You'd like her, I bet."

Dancingflame couldn't help the smile at Acorndrops words, her ears perking as he continued speaking, informing her of his mate. Acorndrop purred at her reaction. "Well, keep me updated!" he chirped, happy they were talking about brighter things. "Well, I ought to go and speak with the other deputies." He knew if they talked for too long, cats would get suspicious. He turned to leave. "If she asks about me," he whispered, unable to help himself. "Tell her I love her, and that I'm so proud." With that he bounded off, weaving his way through the crowd. Just as he approached the other deputies, he spotted Dreamfeather. He froze in his steps. "Dreamfeather?" he called, tilting his head with confusion. "What are you doing here?" He stepped forward to nuzzle her. "I thought you weren't coming!"

Dancingflame smiled softly "I will" she mewed softly in response to his words about Cherrypaw before he turned and bounded off. She nearly turned away when she spotted him stop in front of a calico she-cat for a moment before he stepped forward to nuzzle her. Dancingflame smiled again before slipping away into the crowd, ready to find a spot to sit and wait for the gathering to begin.

Dreamfeather purred in greeting as she nuzzled him back "I decided to come at the last minute" she said sheepishly, her paws shifting slightly "figured it would be a good surprise for you" she mewed softly.

Marigoldflare had been sat alone below the leaders' gathering post for a little while, and slightly confused by that fact. She'd spotted Acorndrop talking to a few other cats a couple of times but didn't hold it against the other tom at all - she'd got over Hawkstrike's disappearance just about but it was still a little odd seeing someone else in his position. By some miracle things had never been awkward between them, and while she wasn't being bitter about the only two cats she'd ever loved romantically both disappearing she just missed him. What was more confusing though, other than her disasterous love life, was Echostar's deputy's absence. AspenClan cats surrounded them but she couldn't see their deputy anywhere, so she just sat quietly while waiting for someone to come and talk to her.
~ {RC}
Paledawn had stuck by Dartwing's side during the start of the Gathering, but after speaking to the other medicine cats briefly she had bid them goodbye in favour of wandering around the rest of the cats. Spottedeye's recent death had left her wanting to speak to other elders, so when she spotted AspenClan's former deputy sat near the front she pushed her way through the crowd to join her. "Tinybreath!" she called to catch the she-cat's attention, aware of her lack of sight since Mumblefall and Whispermoon had discussed that case extensively with her. "It's been a few moons, how have you been?"

Tinybreath's ears perked as she heard her name called, her head turning in the direction as a purr rumbled in her throat as Paledawn's scent swept over her. "it has, mainly my fault. Haven't gone to a gathering in a long while. I've been doing good, finally feel confident leaving camp" she mewed with a smile "how have you been?" she asked, curious about how the she-cat was doing, having heard that she had stepped down as medicine cat.

Twitching his ears he rose back to his feet, moving through the crowd like a fish swimming through water, his gaze set on Coyotestorm. He watched a she-cat approach him, but he figured she was a friend of the tom. Beanfallow came to a halt in front of them, putting on a smile before speaking, "Hi, I'm Beanfallow from WillowClan."

AC:
Adderdash’s suggestion surprised him. Normally it was something he would have suggested. But for his friend to do it himself? He knew it took a lot of courage. Lizardstone nodded, then trailed behind Adderdash, smiling proudly at his friend. They wandered towards WillowClan’s end and stopped before a WillowClan tom that he tentatively identified as Bramblefur. “Lizardstone here. It’s our first time going to the gathering as warriors,” he added on to Adderdash’s introduction.
——
RC:
Coyotestorm kept his eyes from wandering. He was looking ahead at where the leaders spoke with such concentration that he twitched when a voice broke his focus. His head darted to see who it was. He didn’t relax any when he saw it was Rowanmask. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” he said lightly, aiming for an easy-going tone. As long as he stayed where he was, out of sight, he could survive the gathering...
Except, of course, it would never be so easy. He nearly choked when he saw Beanpaw approach him, and it took all his effort to school his expression. He couldn’t stop his eyes from widening a fraction when he heard Beanpaw was no longer an apprentice. “Beanfallow, huh? You must be a new warrior. Welcome to the walking nightmare that is having full responsibility over yourself.” He managed to keep his tone in control, but he was internally cursing his son’s timing. Coyotestorm looked at Rowanmask then, partially out of expectation that she would say something, but partially because he was gauging her carefully.
-
Larchpaw nearly jumped out of her fur when someone spoke to her. She looked quickly and saw that it wasn’t Coalfur. It was Mistypaw. “I, uh...” she trailed off as her mouth grew dry. She was nervous, borderline terrified. Mistypaw looked calm, and she felt a mixture of confusion and envy. “Sorry,” she mumbled at last once her tongue untwisted. Hearing her own answer made her inwardly cringe, and she fought with the urge to turn tail and run back to their camp. It was then she realized Coalfur must have also spoken to her, because she only noticed that he brushed against once he was no longer there. She took a few steps forward, looking back at Mistypaw uncertainly. But then Coalfur was talking to an AspenClan cat and introducing her, and any coherent thoughts immediately fled her mind.
——
WC:
Cherrypaw smiled apologetically at Haywhisker and Chirpsong before she slipped off. As much as she wanted to stay with her friends, she felt a restless energy. She was sure it had to be emotionally driven, and it made her want to keep moving. She identified Dancingflame before she steered away from that direction, a pang in her chest. There was a lump in her throat that took a long moment to clear, and when it did, she found herself in front of Marigoldflare. She sat down next to the deputy quietly. She would move once the leaders began the gathering, but it was interesting to watch all the clans mingle from this position. “Is it hard?” she asked Marigoldflare abruptly. “Watching the clans from here, knowing you... just aren’t a simple warrior anymore?” Her meaning was layered, but it was only something her, Dancingflame, and Bayflower knew about.
-
Haywhisker glanced at Beanfallow when his brother nudged him, and he traced his brother’s gaze to Coyotestorm. He watched as Beanfallow left his side to go towards where the RavenClan tom was, but he didn’t follow. Cherrypaw left a moment later, and then it was just him and Chirpsong. The black tom shook his head at her question. “No, nothing. I just thought we should all attend the gathering together, but it’s clear that isn’t happening.” He crafted his expression to one of wryness as he gestured to the empty spaces where Beanfallow and Cherrypaw once were. “At least you haven’t left.” He widened his smile, ignoring the odd twinge he felt at the gesture. It felt hollow to him like it usually did, but it seemed to be outwardly convincing. The more he looked like a cat enjoying his first gathering as a warrior, the less anyone would notice the careful sweep his eyes did. The less anyone would notice the way he watched the warriors from the other clans interact with each other.

Acorndrop purred, licking her shoulder cheerfully. He knew Marigoldflare was close, and he should really try to act more natural, but he just had to point Cherrypaw out to Dreamfeather. "She's here," he whispered, knowing Dreamfeather would know he was talking about. He skimmed the clearing to try and catch sight of her, but balked when he spotted the she-cat a mere pace from him, speaking to Marigoldflare. His heart thudded in his chest, and he stared forward, unable to help himself. "Right there," he hissed to Dreamfeather, completely in shock at the development. He pressed against his mate's side. "She won't want to speak with me." He finally tore his gaze away, his breath coming in panicked gasps as he struggled to regain his composure without alerting anyone else to his distress.

Ears perking, Dreamfeather wondered briefly about who before it registered that he must have been talking about his daughter. She watched as his gaze swept around the clearing before he practically froze, his gaze locked on the she-cat talking to Marigoldflare. She nuzzled him with her muzzle as he pressed against her, her heart breaking at the distress of her mate. "It's alright darling" she rumbled soothingly, a purr rumbling in her chest that was barely heard but she knew Acorndrop would feel it. "Everyone always needs time to adjust, especially when the truth they've believed has been altered" she soothed him, her own gaze straying towards Shrikestar as her own words rattled in her head, knowing that she had reacted in anger herself at the knews. She focused back on Acorndrop, licking him gently on his shoulder, looking for all appearances to the gathered cats as if she was spending a couple moments with her mate before the gathering would start.

RAVENCLAN:
Rowanmask opened her mouth to respond before a WillowClan cat interrupted, looking young but certainly not new to the gathering. She peered at him for a moment, wondering why the name sounded familiar. Rowanmask made a note to remember names of cats she came across, should it prove to be useful, and it suddenly occurred to her. “You are Haypaw’s brother, are you not?” She leaned back, wondering for a moment why he would choose to approach them instead of cats closer to his age. “Although I suppose he must be a warrior as well. He was with your medicine cat when he came to retrieve herbs from our territory.” There was a slight edge to her voice, suggesting that she still wasn’t happy about what had happened that day, but she wasn’t about to take it out on the tom before them.
WILLOWCLAN:
Chirpsong’s eyes widened when Cherrypaw smiled at them before padding away. Was she missing something? Glancing around, she noticed that Beanfallow had also disappeared into the crowd. No sooner had she expressed her confusion did Haywhisker voice her own thoughts, and made it clear that he was probably thinking the same. “I don’t think I have a reason to yet,” she joked softly, wishing that she could focus a little more on what was happening around them. She desperately wanted to learn more from the other Clans, even claimed that she would do so at the next gathering, but every time she seemed to shrink in on herself. “What do you think they’re in such a hurry for?” That might not have been the right word, but the two cats seemed quick to leave them to their own devices.

Raggedtooth's attention was drawn to Paledawn approaching Tinybreath, but they were involved in their conversation so Raggedtooth glanced away. He figured that Paledawn would likely address him shortly, but wanted Tinybreath to enjoy the conversation in the meantime. As his eye glanced over the crowd, his vision immediately zeroed in on an apprentice bounding in behind the rest of the RavenClan patrol, no doubt a young RavenClan tom. What caught his attention was the young tom's appearance. It was slight enough that he doubted anyone would really know to look for it unless they knew. Raggedtooth glanced up at Ashenstar as if for silent confirmation, catching her nod. He could feel his breath stilling in his chest. That's one of my sons.

Marigoldflare almost jumped at Cherrypaw's question, giving the apprentice a smile as she tried to look back at the clearing with a younger cat's point of view. "Maybe a bit," she started, shrugging lightly and keeping her voice easy to let Cherrypaw know that she was welcome to talk to her. She wasn't a leader and had no intention of pretending she was all high and mighty nowadays. "It's more knowing that they all think I'm more than a warrior than feeling like it. Far as I'm concerned I'm still a warrior, I've just got a few extra responsibilities now. But they look up to me and I've got to act in a way that upholds that." After a moment's pause she added "Not that I always want to though," her smile gaining a cheeky glint as she winked at Cherrypaw.
{RC}
"I'm glad, really," Paledawn said as Tinybreath mentioned her progress, knowing how hard it had to be for someone to adjust to living without her sight after so many moons of relying on it absolutely. When the conversation turned to herself she shrugged, used to the question since she'd stepped back from her duties at long last. "Ahh, I'm doing alright. Feeling a little lost right still but I still make Dartwing put up with me in the den too often. Think he'd miss me if I stepped too far away," she said, smiling as she thought of her old apprentice. A thought occurred to her then and she asked "How did you find it adjusting? I don't want to step on his tail but I still want to support him." She was aware of Raggedtooth's presence nearby and knew she could ask him too but wanted to ask her old friend first.

Tinybreath let her nose twitch as she thought over the question, trying to express what she wanted to say in the right words. "The adjustment for me was hard, but also easy in a sense. Moving from deputy to elder would normally be a big adjustment but considering how exactly I came to that transition it didn't seem as big an adjustment as I had previously thought it would be." She quirked a smile, slightly bitter as she remembered those first few moons, when she struggled to even make her way thru camp and then having to argue or even sneak her way out of camp. "I guess it's easier a transition when you have something to do, something to occupy your time."

Cats were mingling, and he listened in to what conversations he could. The more time passed, the less comfortable he became. He knew the drill by now, but that couldn’t bring him comfort now, not with Echostar’s rise to leadership. Figuring enough time went by, Shrikestar turned and leaped up the lone tree in the middle of the clearing, where the leaders gave their announcements. It signaled that the gathering would be starting at any time, and he turned to the other two leaders. “Let the gathering begin!” he shouted over the clamor. He looked at Ashenstar, and then with a little more hesitation, he looked at Echostar. His gaze was curious, expectant, as he waited for one of them to speak first. Part of it was a courtesy, but part of it was also that he didn’t want to speak first. Not before he heard what Echostar had to say.

As Shrikestar called the gathering, his attention instantly shifted. He glanced at Marigoldflare, trying not to look at Cherrypaw as he gave her a somewhat forced warm expression. He lifted himself up, trying to look authoritative. Personal conflicts aside, he had a role to fulfill. WC Bayflower had in all honesty been zoning out after exchanging pleasantries with Whispermoon and Dartwing. He hadn't gotten much sleep lately, and he was anxious to get home. Cloverkit had a torn claw, and she was awful about resting. He'd been taking shifts with Brookshine to ensure she stayed still, because the kitten had snuck out of her nest four times in the one night while everyone else was sleeping. On top of that Swiftbird had a fever and Mousefern had a cold. Although all his patients were recovering well, Bayflower was ready for a break. Otterspirit had promised to take him fishing after things lightened up, and the thought of spending a whole afternoon with his brother had gotten him through the past few days. Wearily he looked up at Shrikestar as the gathering began, hoping things would pass quickly and uneventfully so he could return home to get a bit of sleep before he had to watch Cloverkit that morning.

AC Echostar jumped up into the tree after Shrikestar, ears flicking as his announced the start of the gathering. She watched as cats settled down into their positions before seh stepped forward. With the recent change in Aspenclan leadership she didn't think that either of the other leaders minded if she spoke first. "Aspenclan has had a fortunate past few moons as we prepare for leaf-bare. Raggedstar has decided to step down and join the elders den, retaking his name of Raggedtooth. I received my nine lives and new name, Echostar. Smokefrost has been named as deputy but stayed behind at camp for this gathering." she mewed, her head up, refusing to show nay sign of weakness. She resisted the urge to brush her tail against her belly, not wishing to draw attention to the slight roundness which could be mistaken for how the clan fattens up before the harsh moons. She waited a beat as sounds came from the gathered cats, letting them settle back down before continuing her gaze hard. "On other news, we've caught scent of trespassing cats along the Willowclan border" she started, her gaze flicking over to Shrikestar, warning in her gaze "this is your only warning to stay on your side of the border, Aspenclan will not tolerate anymore excursions into our territory" she finished, her voice hard but devoid of any hostility before she stepped back and settled down, hearing the commotion her warning had caused in the gathering.

Tinybreath pricked her ears as the gathering started, her nsoe twitching as Echostar announced the change in leadership before she shifted at her leaders clear warning to Willowclan about borders, uneasy but also knowing that they would need to be strong at maintaining borders.

Flareheart narrowed her eyes in thought at Echostar's warning, her mind whirling with thoughts as she wondered who it was that had crossed the border in the first place. Though she felt an idea curling in her head as she wondered what exactly Aspenclan would do if there was another excursion over the border.
