DETAILED APPEARANCE: A willful, wiry, and very small she-cat with a soft mosaic of gray and cream dappled across her pelt, Mousefern gives off the impression of a small, delicate mouse. While that might have been true at one point because of her blindness, she's since transcended her fears, and she has earned every battle scar, figurative and literal.
PERSONALITY & DESCRIPTION: Mousefern started out life as a figurative interpretation of a walking shield. Blind in both milky-blue eyes, she was always on her guard and highly sensitive to her self-perceived weakness. Above all else, she feared discrimination against her sightlessness, and she worried that she would never be allowed to become a warrior. How could she navigate her clan's territory, with water tracing every curve? How could she defend it against those that meant it harm? She didn't have those answers for a long time; however, through honing her senses and the skills she did have, and finding a strong support system in her family and clanmates, she has blossomed to her full potential. Unbreakable bonds with her mate Nettleshade and her sister Marigoldflare ensure that she will never be alone in her future struggles. No longer does she doubt her abilities, even if she has to work twice or thrice as hard to get the same results. Her battle will always be uphill, but her determination and perseverance are some of her strongest assets that see her through. While she knows she is capable, it is inevitable that some of her fears rear their heads on the occasion. She knows with the utmost certainty that they are irrational, and she has since more than proved herself, but anxiety never follows logic. It takes a lot out of her during these mental wars with her old mindset, but Mousefern knows well enough when to keep pushing and when to seek help. Her struggles, she has learned, aren't a show of weakness, but a sign of her strength. In this way, she will never let anyone doubt her dedication because of how much she's had to work to get where she is now, and she wouldn't change anything—not even to wish for the ability to see. Her soft-spoken nature shouldn't be mistaken for meekness, nor should it be labeled as mere acceptance of what's out of her control. The dilute tortoiseshell is quiet, and she accepts that she is blind, but never will these two traits keep her still. There is always something she can improve on, always a chance to move forward. She'll find her voice if she needs it, and she'll be the loudest cat out there if it means she can make a difference. She is still like a shield, but instead of hiding herself, she will protect the family she has and the friends she's made until her dying day.
