PERSONALITY & DESCRIPTION
‘The strong and silent’ type would be an accurate way of describing Kressida, but very few cats know the truth behind just how accurate it is. Her strength is undeniable even from the first glance, her sharp eyes giving a presence that surpasses her small size and suggesting a cat who doesn’t back down very often. Although she’s clearly built for combat, the one reason that would cause Kressida to raise a claw against another cat is if they threatened the few that she cares about. Trust does not come naturally to her, since growing up with an absent mother and a cruel father left her wondering who she could trust if the cats you’re meant to love unconditionally did her nothing but harm. Those who can get through her carefully built walls will find that they never have to watch their own back anymore, because Kressida would fight to the death to protect anyone who could earn a space in her circle. While her unshakable loyalty could be considered admirable, the reasoning behind contributes greatly to her reluctance to trust. A single mistake in a fight to protect her sister ended with Kressida smashing her head against a rock and losing a great deal of her speech capabilities, leaving her with a harsh sounding voice and difficulties in speaking with a regular rhythm. When it became clear this wasn’t something she could recover from it knocked Kressida’s confidence, and hatred of her new voice means she will refuse to talk in front of those she doesn’t know unless it’s absolutely necessary. But the need to maintain her status as the guardian has caused her to work obsessively at her fighting abilities. She feels she has to make up for her disability by being better, becoming expendable in favour of others, or she really will be the failure her father labelled her as.
