While it was one thing to train someone else's apprentice for a few days, it was completely different to have her own apprentice. Her confidence affected her in the beginning, but she slowly learned how to help herself. She also learned how to best train a seeing-cat given the problems she faced. If it was simply impossible for her to teach something, Brightsplash was kind enough to step in. Mousefern was content with how well it worked out. She wasn’t sure if she could repeat the results in the same way.
Currently, she waited by the fresh-kill pile for Frostpaw to come out of his den. It was early morning, and by now she didn’t need to chaperone him or wake him up for training. They were close to completing it, and it would only be a moon or two more until he received his warrior name. She was proud of his progress, and she only hoped that he was proud, too. It seemed like he had his own issues, and while she never intruded on them, she understood well. It was because of that she never pried, and if he ever lashed out her responses were careful and calm.

Frostpaw had been displeased with his assigned mentor, at least at first.
Of course, the grumpy little furball with "little man syndrome" would have his ego deflated by receiving a mentor who was incapable of seeing. What- were they trying to make him feel better, or make him appear even more pitiful because she wouldn't be able to teach him much? Laughing stock- that was how it felt.
With help from Brightsplash, the young tom had learned to...be a little more positive, and frankly, be better in general. He respected Mousefern to a degree at this point, despite her blindness. He might even go as far as to say that it was impressive how she managed to get around camp with no assistance.
With the sun, Frostpaw rised, leaving the apprentice's den with a small stretch before spotting his mentor in the corner of his vision. Turning, he trotted in her direction, immediately understanding that it as time to get to business.

There were several clanmates in the clearing, and Mousefern could identify them by scent, of course. She could tell them apart by their pawsteps and the gait that affected them. She could even tell the small signs of breathing apart for some of the clanmates she knew well. It was all of these factors together, none of them in isolation, that she knew Frostpaw was approaching her. Really, she knew because of sound she heard coming from the direction of the apprentices’ den, but she recognized everything that made him distinct by now.
She turned in his direction as he approached, a smile on her face. “Frostpaw,” she greeted warmly. The air was blistering cold, so their training session wouldn’t be prolonged by any means. “You’re close to finishing your apprenticeship by now. Several more lessons, and I’m sure you’ll be ready for your assessment.” She paused for a brief moment to gather her thoughts. Then she continued, “What did you think of your training? I know it was a little... unconventional, compared to some of your denmates, but I hope you feel like you learned enough. I wanted to dedicate today to working on anything that you might think you need refreshing on before your assessment.” She took her mentorship seriously, and if there was any way to learn from her mistakes, she would do it.
